MURMO – WordPress Website Redesign and Migration
The MURMO Specialist Psychology and Art Therapy Centre needed more than a cosmetic website update. Its WordPress site brings together professional profiles, therapy groups, articles and information for different audiences. The redesign focused on a clearer structure, a more cohesive visual experience and easier journeys through that content.
The renewed website makes it easier to understand where to find practitioners, group programmes, professional resources and contact information. Alongside the design and front-end work, the project included moving the renewed website into its live WordPress environment.
At a glance: the original narrow layout was reworked into a clearer responsive design. Professional profiles, group scheduling and mobile navigation became easier to explore. Content organisation, image optimisation and the WordPress go-live process were also part of the project, with existing user data taken into account.
The brief: complex specialist content, made easier to navigate
MURMO’s website serves parents, young people, professional partners and people looking for therapy groups. The previous version already contained valuable resources, but its narrow content column, prominent background pattern and long navigation made it harder to find relevant information quickly.
The goal was to present existing expertise more clearly, not to replace it. Visitors should be able to learn about the centre, find a suitable professional, explore available groups and understand how to make contact without getting lost in the page structure.
The core challenges: structure, trust and mobile usability
- Rich content: therapeutic approaches, groups, practitioner biographies, articles and news at different levels of detail.
- Different visitor needs: parents, colleagues and prospective participants often need different information first.
- Navigation: the original long mobile menu needed a clearer hierarchy.
- Practitioner information: qualifications, experience and publications needed a readable, structured presentation.
- Programme visibility: groups and schedules needed to be easy to browse and compare.
- Continuity: introducing the new site required care around existing WordPress data and user accounts.
Visual redesign: helping content take centre stage
The new homepage uses space more purposefully: a broader hero, stronger type hierarchy, clearer sections and a consistent palette replace the previous narrow page structure. Green and deep navy remain part of MURMO’s identity, while lighter backgrounds give the detailed content breathing room.
Key starting points are highlighted through recognisable cards and buttons. The centre’s introduction, programmes, professional posts and contact options are presented as distinct sections rather than a single hard-to-scan stream.
The before-and-after image above uses genuine screenshots of the previous and renewed homepage, not a reconstruction or conceptual mock-up.
Mobile navigation and more intuitive journeys
One of the biggest mobile changes was the navigation. The former long list gave way to a more legible set of main sections, with expandable subsections where needed. This helps visitors quickly decide whether they are looking for a practitioner, a group or practical information.
The responsive implementation goes beyond shrinking the desktop layout. Cards, type, spacing and important actions are adapted for smaller screens. These are the same principles we apply in our website design and development work.
Professional profiles, group schedules and detailed pages
The professionals directory uses consistent photo cards displaying names, a short introduction and a route to a full profile. Visitors can scan the directory without having to read through a long list of biographies.
Individual profiles organise introductions alongside dedicated sections for training, professional experience, publications and presentations. Expandable content and a separate contact action make a substantial amount of material easier to navigate.
The colour-coded weekly group timetable solves a different practical problem: helping people see available activities and their times in context. It is a functional content feature rather than decoration, supported by a clear route towards making an enquiry.
WordPress implementation and careful launch
This was a redesign of an existing WordPress website. The work brought together more consistent visual components, front-end improvements, a clearer content structure and image optimisation. Mobile presentation and internal navigation were checked as part of the implementation.
Launching the renewed site required backups of the previous and new WordPress environments, careful handling of the connected website and database elements, and checks on internal references. The aim was to bring the redesigned experience to murmo.hu without losing existing data and user accounts that needed to be preserved.
This project is a practical example of how a website redesign does not always mean starting over. Existing content and workflows can provide a solid foundation for a more useful experience.
SEO foundations: clearer content relationships
Clear navigation and dedicated content pages can make a complex website easier to interpret for both visitors and search engines. On MURMO, the priority was to make specialists, groups and professional resources easy to locate and understand, with relevant internal connections between them.
More structured content and a mobile-friendly experience are useful SEO foundations, but they do not automatically guarantee higher rankings. We do not attribute unverified traffic, ranking or enquiry growth to this project.
The outcome: a coherent and adaptable professional website
The renewed MURMO website now has a more cohesive design, a clearer homepage, more prominent entry points, an improved mobile menu, consistent professional cards, detailed profiles and an overview of weekly group activities. A substantial body of professional content remains available within a more approachable structure.
Challenge: renew the design and usability of a content-rich WordPress site.
Solution: clearer information architecture, responsive design, professional and group interfaces, and a carefully managed launch.
Outcome: a live professional website that builds on existing content with easier routes through the information.
